EMI TURNS FIVE

Ok ok, I say this every year on her birthday but REALLY this time, how is she FIVE!? This is such a big year for our girl. She turned five, will turn into a big sister come June and will turn into a kindergartener in the fall.  We wanted to make her last birthday as an only child super special so we had a birthday festival all week long.  We kicked things off with the traditional breakfast in bed.  She requested arepas (her favorite Venezuelan breakfast) and orange juice.  After that we made one of my ultimate mother-daughter dreams come true and went and had our nails done together at Red Door Spa. I've pictured this moment since the day I found out I was having a girl so this was a pretty big deal.  She was super excited too.  We had the perfect day getting pampered and eating too many treats.  Later that week we threw her a winter wonderland party at the Reston Town Center Ice Skating Pavilion.  We got extremely lucky, it had been raining all weekend and the rain stopped for the couple hours we were there, plus it was in the 60s! We lined the table with all things chocolate - hot chocolate, s'mores, chocolate cake and chocolate cupcakes.  All of Emi's favorite things! It was perfect and she was the happiest kid to have her best friends and her family there.  Until next year my sweet girl.
